An exciting post for me today as I had the pleasure of photographing my first wedding last month and the bride and groom saw the images last weekend!
Wedding Photography is something I’ve been working towards for a couple of years and just as I felt ready to be brave enough – a wonderful opportunity presented itself – just like that!
Francesca is a colleague and had heard about my photography via various other colleagues, so when she came to see me to ask if I photographed weddings I was, of course, thrilled. The whole experience has been a pleasure from start to finish,  all assisted by some serious planning, a pre-wedding shoot and of course lots of chatting to discuss the details!

The day of the wedding dawned and as I set off, I watched with bated breath as the temperature gauge in my car slowly climbed………my first day as a wedding photographer happened to fall on what appeared to be the hottest day of the year!!  As I arrived to photograph the bride as she
got ready (at 12.00pm) it was already 35°…..! I have to admit that at this point I was a little daunted.
However, despite melting for the first couple of hours, I didn’t notice the heat too much after that and I would much rather have photographed in the heat than in the rain for this first experience.

Francesca’s sister’s house and garden  lent itself wonderfully to getting those all important shots of the bridal outfit. Francesca & Steve had chosen to see each other before the ceremony and one of my favourite parts of the day was capturing their reactions on seeing each for the first time. I don’t
think Steve’s smile could have been wider!! We then headed to the,t hankfully much cooler, church for the ceremony. This is where the learning curve was a little steeper and I had to concentrate on being in the right place at the right time! By the time we left the church and had got the all important confetti/ rice throwing shots the temperature had slowly started to go down!  I then whizzed over to the reception venue to photograph the details before the guests arrived. In between photographing the guest, we managed a couple of further  “escapes” during the evening to get some more portraits of the bride and groom and then I was able to capture some images as the dancing began,
 before I heading.

I have to say a huge thank you firstly to Francesca and Steve for asking me to photograph their wedding. Secondly a thank you not only to Francesca and Steve, but also their families and friends, for having made the experience so easy and so much fun. It was a pleasure to spend the
day with you and I’m thrilled with the result and I know that the bride and groom are too!

Congratulations again to Francesca & Steve!

love, Claire
