When my 11 year old goddaughter asked me for a Portrait Shoot for her birthday present this year, I don’t think I could have been more pleased! Being photographed is not something we all feel comfortable with and as a photographer it is a big challenge to make the subject feel at ease. In this particular case however – my subject with not only comfortable, but highly enthusiastic and full of ideas 🙂 The emotional connection between Laura & myself also made it incredibly easy to work with her as there was no feeling of “discomfort” – from either side.
We started off our shoot on a very hot summer afternoon and so went down into one of the more shadier, cooler parts of Luxembourg. We combined our walk with a game of mini golf and an ice cream, before heading home for a break. Once it was a little cooler, and with the lovely evening light to work with, we then headed into the centre of the city – looking for different backgrounds. Our final stop was at a tunnel full of grafitti that I discovered earlier this year thanks to another client. This is not however just vandalised walls – but walls used by artists. The graffitti changes on a regular basis and is brilliant as a backdrop.
I am thrilled with the result and know that Laura is raring to go for another portrait shoot – so watch this space.
Merci beaucoup Laura xx
