A very special post for me today, the subject of which I could spend a long time writing about. I will however try to keep it relatively short! 

As many of you know, I travelled to Nairobi at the end of June this year, to spend a week photographing life in the slum of Korogocho. This work was within the framework of an awareness raising project for the charity North-South Cooperation (CNS). The aim being to raise awareness of the situation in Korogocho and the impact of the work of the charity, through a photographic exhibition in secondary schools and cultural centres here in Luxembourg. 

We had very busy week visiting, amongst other things, the schools which are partnered with the charity, families in their homes, drug rehabilitation centres for young addicts and Dandora, the biggest rubbish dump in Kenya, which is just next to Korogocho.  

The week went too fast and I could have happily stayed on to discover more. We saw and witnessed a very difficult way of life in Korogocho but the positive attitude and the zest for life that we encountered was infectious. We were greeted with open arms and big smiles and a huge amount of generosity, despite the fact that generally people have very little to share. Sharing and helping each other is the very essence of Korogocho and without it diffcult lives would be even more desperate, than they already are.

I have learnt a great deal from my visit and the work we have been doing in the schools over the last 3 weeks and am very grateful to have been given the opportunity to use my passion for photography for such a good cause. 

I have included in the blog, just few of the images, that will be on display from the 14th-20th November 2016 at the Circolo Eugenio Curiel in Hollerich here in Luxembourg. There will be a conference and a reception on Tuesday November 15th at 19.30, during which we will present the images, alongside our friend Kevin Juma from Korogocho.
